Black Iris Presents: The Breeders

The Breeders started life as a side project for Kim Deal of the Pixies, Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses, Josephine Wiggs of the British band The Perfect Disaster, and Britt Walford of Slint. They recorded the album Pod with Steve Albini in a mere ten days, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The album was released on 4AD in 1990 to critical acclaim. The press dubbed the Breeders an Indie Supergroup, but the band were able to play only two London shows before returning to their day jobs.

React Presents: Whethan

17-year old Chicago native Ethan Snoreck, better known by his stage name Whethan, has wasted no time in releasing some of this year's most upbeat electronic tracks. His Soundcloud is already adorned with millions of views, specializing in rhythmically driven remixes of the likes of TyUs, Louis the Child, and Zayn. Whethan's stage name came from a school nickname that his friends made up. Later at the age of 16, he would end up becoming the youngest producer ever to release a record on Australia's leading electronic label, Future Classic. Now Whethan finds himself getting booked on festivals such as Snowglobe, UpNorth, and HARD Summer while in his senior year of high school. Expect to see great things in Whethan's future, as his highly anticipated original releases will include features from the likes of Skrillex and Flux Pavilion. His debut original entitled "Can't Hide" has reached an impressive 3 million Spotify streams, and you can expect to see plenty of more exciting tracks coming up in 2017.

ALVVAYS

Alvvays is due to release its second full-length, Antisocialites, this September. The album is the much-anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album which received accolades from Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone and more. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep-end of reckless romance and altered dates. Ice cream truck jangle collides with prismatic noise pop while Molly Rankin's wit is refracted through crystalline surf counterpoint. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, Alvvays has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage.

LUNA

Luna, the New York-based quartet, were last seen on stage in February 2005. In 2015 they will play their first shows in ten years.

Luna recorded 8 studio albums between 1992 and 2005. The current touring lineup is the exact ’99-’05 group that recorded Luna Live!, Romantica, Close Cover Before Striking, and Rendezvous: Dean Wareham and Sean Eden on guitar, Lee Wall on drums, and Britta Phillips on bass.

At their best, it’s hard to believe there is any other kind of music besides this simple, graceful, chiming chug — the Guardian

AEG Presents: Ibeyi w/ theMIND

Lisa and Naomi Diaz are the daughters of the late Cuban percussionist Anga Diaz. Naomi plays percussive instruments, the Cajon and the Batas, while Lisa plays piano. Together the twins have learned the songs of their father's culture, Yoruba.

Ibeyi sing in English and Yoruban, and have created a minimalist sound that merges elements of their heritage with their natural love of modern music as teenagers growing up in Paris, citing artists such as James Blake and King Krule amongst their wide range of influences. WSG: theMIND

AEG Presents: Echosmith - Inside A Dream Tour wsg Banners

In 2013, teenage siblings from Southern California, ECHOSMITH, brought a lifelong dream to fruition with the release of their debut album Talking Dreams. As soon as they could hold instruments, they began playing music together as kids. They traded the living room for Farmers Markets and open mic nights, while quietly honing their songwriting chops. Those chops were on full-display in the breakout single “Cool Kids,” which became a runaway success. Supporting Talking Dreams, they performed around the globe and enchanted audiences everywhere. As those adventures unfolded, they grew up, both as people and musicians, and that growth shines through their 2017 sophomore album, Inside A Dream [Warner Bros. Records]. WSG: Banners

Hippo Campus w/ Remo Drive

"There's a moment in growing up when it becomes clear that the road you walk is your own to cultivate."

A surprisingly profound sentiment for a band of 21-year olds. Nevertheless, it's a sentiment that animates much of landmark, the debut album from Minneapolis' Hippo Campus.

AEG Presents: Children of Bodom - 20 Years Down and Dirty Tour w/ Carach Angren, LOST SOCIETY & Uncured

Fully 20 years into the tough, heroic grind that represents the lifeblood of extreme musicians, Finland metal scientists Children of Bodom have certainly won over crowds globally through a crafted alloy that is theirs alone. But the building of their esteemed career has also been aided an abetted by the simple math of all that work, the intense touring, that inevitable return visit to your town that has made the band’s shows engaging, personable and energetic thrash parties indelibly stamped on the circuit boards of headbangers worldwide. Maximo Park

Along with post-millennium acts The FUTUREHEADS, FRANZ FERDINAND and KAISER CHIEFS, Geordie art-rockers MAXIMO PARK cast a glamorous shade of post-punk on northern skies, being one of the few privileged guitar bands to ink a deal with cult electronic imprint, Warp Records. Keeping his Northern English brogue intact, singer Paul Smith gives the impression he’s swallowed his parent’s punk/new wave vinyl collection, but with a fresh take on the genre, they somehow pull it off to the Max.
