AEG Presents: The Revolution

The Revolution -- Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, BrownMark and Dr. Fink -- is most commonly known as the versatile band behind the music icon, Prince. Merging funk, rock n' roll, rhythm and blues, pop & psychedelia genres, the band is considered to be one of the most successful music acts of all time. The Revolution rose to international fame and prominence in the mid 1980s with Purple Rain, a rock operatic project centered around Prince that catapulted him and the group to instant stardom. The project consisted of two parts: a studio film and an accompanying soundtrack/album. The film was a box office smash hit, while the soundtrack is regarded by many as one of the greatest albums of all time. The record, Purple Rain, was recently inducted into the Library of Congress to be persevered for generations to come. After the summer of 1985, The Revolution soon found themselves to be a global phenomenon, following the release of the film and touring throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.

The Growlers - Beach Goth Tour 2018

Since the release of their first LP Are You In or Out? In 2009, The Growlers have forged their own twisted path on the global music scene. They're the party band that grew into a traveling circus of psychedelia that spawned their own event, Beach Goth. Lead singer Brooks Nielsen draws a particular devotion among Growlers fans, as does chief cohort Matt Taylor, The Growlers' music director and chief guitarist. Their most recent LP was 2016's City Club, produced by Julian Casablancas, which saw them expand their palette to include West African, dance, and electronic influences. The band is currently in the studio with Jonathan Rado (Foxygen) and Shawn Everett (The War On Drugs) and preparing for their Beach Goth World Tour 2018.

AEG Presents: Wintersun w/ Ne Obliviscaris & Sarah Longfield

Powerful and majestic with a lot of energy, the music of WINTERSUN mainly flows with great melodies influenced by folk and Scandinavian traditional music. If you enjoy bands like AMORPHIS (in their early days), CHILDREN OF BODOM, FINNTROLL or ENSIFERUM, "Wintersun" is the right choice for you! Lyrically the album deals with mastermind Jari's life, feelings, emotions, hallucinations and dreams, facts that make the record a very personal piece of work. Beside Jari, drummer Kai Hahto from the Finish Grindcore/Death Metal band ROTTEN SOUND playes on "Wintersun" and provided the album with a hellish pummelling in all of the right parts. The rest – vocals, guitars, bass and programming – was done completely by the perfectionist Mäenpäa. With: Ne Obliviscaris & Sarah Longfield

AEG Presents: Bahamas

Earthtones is the newest and totally most best album yet from Bahamas, aka me, Afie Jurvanen.

I wasn’t feeling too inspired in 2016. I’d been in a seemingly unbroken cycle of recording and touring for 6 years. I know, you’re saying to yourself “that’s so clichė, all musicians complain about being tired…” But wait, there’s more!

Not knowing exactly what type of album to make, I was feeling pretty low. But at that very moment, my longtime manager and confidante Robbie Lackritz called and said “dude, you should make an album with D’angelo’s rhythm section.” And just like that, the juices were flowing and the songs started coming.

AEG Presents: Petit Biscuit with Mainila Killa & Wingtip

Petit Biscuit is a 18 year old electronic music producer from France, keen to take on the world. After picking up the cello at age 5 and entering French classical music school the Conservatoire soon after, things heated up when Petit Biscuit got his first PC at 11. Editing and mixing all the sounds of his tracks himself, he excels in creating unmistakable chopped and twisted vocal leads. His first tracks got him an impressive following on SoundCloud and YouTube early on. Now with the release of his debut EP in May 2016, the delicate music of the young prodigy has started to spread like wildfire. The song "Sunset Lover", heady and recognizable among thousands, acts as its spearhead. With: Mainila Killa & Wingtip

Watsky - Welcome To The Family Tour with Chukwudi Hodge & Feed The Biirds

San Francisco native George Watsky began his unconventional career as a Grand Slam Poetry champion whose clever, introspective rhymes were showcased on Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam on HBO. His quirky persona, coupled with his uncanny ability to spit tongue-twisting lyrics at light-speed, earned him millions of YouTube hits and an invitation to perform on the Ellen show. After Watsky independently produced a self-titled album in 2009, both his 2013 album Cardboard Castles and his recent 2014 offering All You Can Do reached #1 on the iTunes hip hop charts, with the former peaking at #6 overall and the latter reaching #5. Watsky, performing with his live band Creme Fraiche, puts on a dynamic live performance that has earned him festival slots at San Francisco’s Outside Lands, Bumbershoot in Seattle, Rock the Bells, the Wireless Festival in London, and the 2014 Van’s Warped Tour, among many other stops in a young career that has already tallied nearly a thousand shows. AEG Presents: Joyce Manor

Joyce Manor was conceived in the back of a car in the Disneyland parking lot—the kind of beginning California dreams are really made of. It was the fall of 2008 over a bottle of cheap booze when co-founders Barry Johnson (guitar, vocals) and Chase Knobbe (guitar) decided to team up. They formed a power violence band where everyone would have Johnny Thunders-style glam-names … like “Joyce Manor” named after an apartment complex Barry walked past every day. But when longtime friend AJJ suddenly asked Barry if his old band wanted to open for their LA show, he scrambled to say yes.

AEG Presents: Tyler Childers - Sludge River Roadshow 2018

Hailing from the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky, Tyler Childers is part of a wave of 2010 Americana artists who prize authenticity both in their songs and sound. Sonically, Childers borrows heavily from the weathered, ornery progressive country records of the '70s, a comparison brought into sharp relief on his second album, 2017's Purgatory, which was produced by the acclaimed Americana rocker Sturgill Simpson.

AEG Presents: Public Image LTD

After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed post-punk originators Public Image Ltd (PiL). Widely regarded as one of the most innovative bands of all time, their music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 Singles and 5 UK Top 20 Albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound – fusing rock, dance, folk, pop and dub – Lydon guided the band from their debut album ‘First Issue’ in 1978 through to 1992’s ‘That What Is Not’, before a 17 year hiatus. Lydon reactivated PiL in 2009, touring extensively and releasing two critically acclaimed albums ‘This is PiL’ in 2012 followed by ‘What The World Needs Now…’ in 2015. John Lydon, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and Bruce Smith continue as PiL. They are the longest stable line-up in the band's history and continue to challenge and thrive.

Mitski with Jessica Lea Mayfield

Mitski Miyawaki has always been wary of being turned a symbol, knowing we’re quick to put women on pedestals and even quicker to knock them down. Nonetheless, after the breakout success of 2016’s Puberty 2, she was hailed as the new vanguard of indie rock, the one who would save the genre from the white dudes who’ve historically dominated it. Her carefully crafted songs have often been portrayed as emotionally raw, overflowing confessionals from a fevered chosen girl, but in her fifth album, Be The Cowboy, Mitski introduces a persona who has been teased but never so fully present until now—a woman in control. “It’s not like it just pours out,” she says about her songwriting, “it’s not like I’m a vessel. For this new record, I experimented in narrative and fiction.” Though she hesitates to go so far as to say she created full-on characters, she reveals she had in mind “a very controlled icy repressed woman who is starting to unravel. Because women have so little power and showing emotion is seen as weakness, this ‘character’ clings to any amount of control she can get. Still, there is something very primordial in her that is trying to find a way to get out.”

AEG Presents: Machine Head

Influential West Coast heavy metal quartet Machine Head formed in 1992 around the talents of ex-Vio-Lence guitar players Robert Flynn and Phil Demmel, bass player Adam Duce, and drummer Chris Kontos. Their D.I.Y. work ethic, aggressive playing, and relentless self-promotion eventually landed them a deal with Roadrunner Records, a relationship that would extend all the way through 2005. Their blistering debut, 1992's Burn My Eyes, blended the powerful, modern attack of Pantera and Alice in Chains with the volatility of classic thrash bands like Death Angel and Slayer, earning them a huge European following. The record sold over 500,000 copies and spawned a massive international tour that lasted almost two years.

AEG Presents: Kruder & Dorfmeister

Kruder & Dorfmeister are two producers/djs/remixers whose distinctive trademark sound is at most times extremely mellow, has a lot of bass, downbeat tracks and a sense of epic soundscapes. There might be the occasional double-time breaks and the heavy and deep typically viennese feeling.

Consider K&D to roam in their own, unique realm of musical beutekunst that owes and gives a lot to rare funk tunes, electric jazz arrangements, the feeling of deep soul, hiphop, dub, reggae, ambient, fusion, brazil, chansons, dope beats and drum+bass and still a lot more influences that happen to find the interest of the two austrians.

AEG & The Ark Present: Violent Femmes

Violent Femmes’ ninth studio album and first full-length collection in more than 15 years, WE CAN DO ANYTHING may well be part of a long musical continuum but it is also among the most provocative and playful in the legendary band’s remarkable canon. As the title makes plain, founding Femmes Gano (vocals, guitar, banjo) and Brian Ritchie (acoustic bass guitar, vocals) remain intrepid as ever before, traversing infinite genre and emotion via their immediately identifiable mash of rambunctious folk, minimalist punk, cubist blues, cosmic jazz, and back porch rock ‘n’ roll.
